Workshop on Bi-level Optimization (Feb 28, 2017 to Mar 7, 2017)

Workshop on Bi-level Optimization has been scheduled in the Central Department of Mathematics on February 28, 2017 to March 7, 2017. The participants will be researchers, teachers and students from different universities of Nepal.A number of researchers have been working in the department in optimization of disaster management. A few graduate courses are being taught in Master’s and in MPhil program. The department continuously promotes to introduce new, important and applicable subjects for teaching and research. Bi-level optimization would be one of the important and applicable courses to be introduced in the future.
The objectives of the workshop are to
1. Investigate the mathematical models and solution methods to carry out results on the proposed problems.
2. Strengthen the existing teaching and research of mathematical optimization and its applications at the mathematics departments.
3. Prepare Nepalese young faculty and research scholars in pursing the further study and research in abroad.
4. Make familiar with the importance of mathematical solution techniques to the planning, transportation management and logistics among non-mathematical and mathematical community in Nepal.
Prof. Dr. Stephan Dempe as a principal resource person and Dr. Maria Pilecka as a resource person will be the main instructors. Both instructors are from Institute of Numerical Mathematics and Optimization, Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science, TU Bergakademie Freiberg, Germany.
